Dois poemas de Langston Hughes

I, Too

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at rable
When company comes
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beatiful I am
And be ashamed -

I, too, am America

Island

Between two rivers,
North of the park,
Life darker rivers
The streets are dark.

Black and white,
Gold and brown -
Chocolate-custard
Pie of a town.

Dream withim a dream,
Our dream deferred.

Good morning, daddy!

Ain't you heard?
